About Us
Cincinnati World Cinema
Cincinnati World Cinema is an AVO (All-Volunteer Organization). Our mission is to engage the community to explore the human condition and celebrate cultural diversity through cinema as an art form and educational tool.
We present films that might otherwise not appear on a big screen in this market. This includes international, documentary, American independent, live-action and animated shorts and locally-produced works.
We are committed to the importance of films that inform and educate, as well as entertain. We believe in cinema as a collective experience on a large screen with a film community sharing a common bond extending from the onscreen experience to the discussions which flow afterward. To enhance the educational experience, our post-film discussions are led by local authorities, CWC staff, and/or filmmakers.
Cincinnati World Cinema collaborates with arts, cultural and educational organizations. Together we curate and co-present individual films or thematic collections. When appropriate, we offer multi-disciplinary events. We combine film with live music, theatre segments, readings, etc.
In the process of exploring the human condition, our films touch on a broad spectrum of cultural and societal issues. Films presented by CWC are offered in the public interest and do not signify organizational endorsement of any issue, cause or group.

2019 Movers & Makers Magazine
Readers’ Choice Awards Winner:
“Favorite Film Presenter or Series”

Movers & Makers is a free publication spotlighting the citizens shaping the future of Cincinnati arts & culture, community engagement, education, healthcare, medical research, and social services. It is known as the “unofficial voice” of over 500 regional nonprofit organizations. This publication shares a wide variety of nonprofit news. The Movers & Makers Awards started in 2018 to give publicity to not-for-profits who produce inspirational events. Our readers vote for their favorites online.
Under the Arts & Culture Favorites, Cincinnati World Cinema won the “Favorite Film Presenter or Series” award. “Based in its new home – The Garfield Theatre, downtown’s only art house cinema – CWC provides the community with outstanding motion pictures not normally available in the area – ones that explore the human condition and celebrate cultural diversity.”
CWC is a film family. The Movers & Makers recognition would not be possible without the support of all the volunteers and individuals who support CWC & its films. Many thanks to our dedicated volunteers and loyal patrons for your continued support and encouragement..

Happy Viewers

I would like to let you know how impressed I am that CWC has evolved into a quality offering in our community that rivals what I enjoyed when I lived in New York & Paris.

You give us films that enrich us as well as entertain us. I always leave the auditorium with thoughts, questions and comments and the evening always ends with a lively exchange.

I appreciate the opportunity to get to know you fine people and to contribute to the support of
foreign and independent film in this community! Thank you!
